About Lori

Lori Elborn-Brown learned woodcraft as a youngster while helping her father keep a Girl Scouts camp on the Sassafras River up and running. She honed her fine woodworking skills carving decoys and making furniture, and apprenticed under Frank B. Rhodes in the late 1980s. Restoration is challenging, but she most enjoys creating something new: “It’s nice to take a rough piece of wood, and mill it, and work on it, and bring out something really beautiful.”

About Doris

Chestertown native Doris Reedt is the shop’s self-proclaimed chief cook and bottle washer. A Washington College graduate in American Studies, and with a master’s in English, she manages the necessities of any small business—the books, taxes, and paperwork—but she also helps customers select fabrics and occasionally does upholstery work. “Since it’s a small crew, I do a little bit of everything.”
