Virginia Side Chair
The pierced splat with a pierced trefoil is mortised into a graceful crest rail and mortised into a separate molded shoe which is attached to the rear seat rail. The molded seat rails are mortised into the front legs and rear stiles. They are pinned but not through tenons. There are no knee brackets on the or bracket responds on the rear. The stretchers are all mortised in the front legs and rear stiles. The antique finish is hand applied and rubbed to achieve a rich patina. Walnut with slip seat frame.
